Yeah Nevermind - Kreider Proposals Post Toffoli

Created by: rja
Team: 2019-20 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 17, 2020
Published: Feb. 17, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Before the Toffoli trade, I told people to temper expectations for a Kreider deal. After the Toffoli trade... As a fan, you may not like these proposals, but they are now my best guesses for Kreider.

I think there are 3 teams that fit for a Kreider trade: STL, NSH and BOS. I may have added one piece too many on a couple of the trades, but I tried to add prospects that = the value of a Tyler Madden (maybe Lauko + Cehlarik is a little too far but honestly I do not see either of them cracking the Bruin's roster any time soon). Let me know your thoughts.

I thought LA undersold Toffoli but Madden seems to be a really good prospect so idk. Maybe Ottawa can get Wilde and a 2nd for Pageau or Brink and a 2nd

I would argue he was one of VAN's better prospects and they have a pretty solid farm.

Wow so teams didn’t want to give their 1st rounders but they gave up a top prospect and a 2nd. That’s funny

hes not, hes a similar mid level prospect, example Sampo Ranta from the Avs

I'm not saying these are unreasonable given the market, I'm just not sure what team would pay this price for a rental. I think the Bruins might just because of how close they were last season.

Corey Pronman has Madden ranked 40th and Foote ranked 48th in his mid season prospect rankings. So I think the Kings getting Madden and a 2nd is really good. I thought they’d get a 2nd and 3rd for Toffoli.

Pronman had Madden 40th ahead of the Foote that got traded who was ranked 48th in the most recent prospect rankings.

Wheeler named him the 3rd best prospect on Vancouver about a week and a half ago. Pronman says he's got 2C upside.

I didnt think he was considered that high across the NHL,
Just Avs twitter was looking for comparable and Sampa Ranta name came up as a similar prospect

37 points in 27 games for Northeastern. Probably their 3rd best fwd propsect behind Podkolzin and Hoglander. Ranta does not meet Madden's level of production.

NSH also has been close in recent years, they have two 2nds and two 3rds in the upcoming draft, and they need more size and speed upfront. They might want to give it a go, especially if Tolvanen has been struggling a little bit lately. STL is right there too, and even if Tarasenko returns, they have a very good chance to repeat. These are 3 teams that can afford to give up these assets and still have a shot.

no, hes not a bust. Was hurt to start the year, played through it and made it worse, and missed a lot of time bc of it.
Since he has came back from injury he had something close to a .5ppg in the AHL, which is good, and he plays a solid defensive game. He doesnt get PP time in the AHL, none of the prospects outside of Timmins does. The coach goes with heavy AHL lifers, which cant really argue bc the team is good and winning

hes very young and his ELC can slide another year. He will be fine.

I think at this point COL, WPG, CAL, and maybe EDM seem like teams that would be interested in Pageau, but I am just speculating.

At this point I’d be asking for Vesalainen/Benson/Dube/Wilde/Wahlstrom/Brink and a 2nd rounder if that’s what Toffoli got

I am saying after the Toffoli trade, being that Kreider is the top rental, it might be more now.

I am neither saying he'll do it, nor should you want him to. I am only saying that after the Toffoli trade, this could very well be the price, and STL has been linked as a team that is interested. Only used them as an example.

I’ll eat dog poop if Kreider gets more than Kyrou and a 1st

What I wrote is not much more than that; really only the 2021 conditional 3rd. De la Rose is just a contract to move back for cap space.

That's a good point about St. Louis. Repeating is tough to do and if they legitimately have a shot it would be well worth it.

Toffoli is quite similar to Kreider... How does this make his value more...
