Good day to be a canucks fan

Description
Pleased by this deal. People were saying the Coleman deal raised the bar for the UFAs, and I'm thrilled that it didn't. I was approximating around a 2nd and 3rd for Toffoli as market value. Madden is nothing special and was never destined to be a huge part of this team. A top 9 forward at best. We payed market value and didn't overpay: a rare feat for a TDL move. Benning nailed it.
The thing is that Benning sucks at July 1 stuff, so if we can bring back Tyler w/o July 1, he likely signs cheaper. If he demands anything north of his current contract, let him go. He's in the 4M range contract wise.
This simulates more optimism to what the team can do.

    Was a very good move.

Something Boston should have done months ago.

With him already surpassing the amount of points he scored last year, you can bet he's going to cost around $5M. Discount to his current contract is very unlikely. He's in pace for 50 points.

Benning is pretty good at signing his own UFAs under market value. Canucks will let him walk if he costs north of 5. He's not worth it.

I don't think Toffoli signs for a discount. He notoriously signed an extension with the Kings three years ago on a very team friendly deal (estimates were coming in at the $6-6.5M range at the time) in order to make the Cap work going forward. I'd be very surprised if he takes another team-friendly deal. I think the offers start at $6 million for 5 years on the open market. Take off $500k for each extra year (i.e. 7 years at $5M) and add $500k for each year under (i.e. 3 years at $7 million).

Think this is a good deal for Canucks to get them into playoffs and especially if Toffolli resigns in Vancouver as UFA. I also think Toffolli is going to be really excited to play again with Pearsona and possibly Horvat on a very good line on a real up and comming team like the Canucks with Pettersson and Huges have a really bright future.
