I've never really thought about Petry as a trade target, but he could be a solid add. I like his contract too - contract expires before the expansion draft and could always trade him next year to a contender (although I do see NMC/NTC there so that may be tricky). I just don't think I would want to spend the rumored price (at least what this site seems to say he will get in a return)

Not bad. Don't think Nashville will be spending that big. Poile has done that plenty of times and it hasn't worked out the best for him. Team seems to be finally clicking no sense in ruining it. Maybe a small move at most, getting Ellis back soon is like an acquisition itself. These next 3 games before the trade deadline will say a lot about what GMDP will do.

If Petry agrees to a trade to NSH, the Preds don't have to honour the NMC/NTC. Subban had a clause that was set to kick in after he was traded to the Preds, and Poile declined to honour it.

Given some of the trades that have gone down so far, I think you could get more than a 2nd for Smith - especially if you're retaining $2M.

I think that only worked with Subban because his NMC hadn't kicked in yet - Petry already has those conditions in his contract this and next year.- if the player currently has an active NTC or whatever and gets traded then they don't suddenly lose that clause in their contract. I think it is still there - it's part of the contract. For instance - Zucker was just traded and he has a modified NTC this year and the following three years in his contract. He waived it to go to PIT, but he will still have those conditions while in PIT even though he was traded. So if PIT ever trades Zucker again, his modified NTC is still part of the equation - he still has it in his contract according to this site too. So Petry would still have those conditions as well. That's my understanding, but maybe I'm off somewhere

I guess that makes more sense. Thanks for the info!

I don't see how this is enough for both Petry and Tatar (I'm assuming that the 2020 1st is lottery protected).

Petry (with salary retention) is probably the highest valued guy on the market this year. Tolvanen + 1st (lottery protected) gets you Petry imo, so I don't see how the leftover pieces on top of taking Turris somehow gets you Tatar.

MTL would be better served if they move Petry and Tatar in separate deals
