Chucky Two Trades Gets Aggressive

Description
I don't think that Pageau is a superior player to Hayes, but in terms of line construction, this makes the most sense. Hayes and Farabee are both strong, reliable defensive players who can set up a goal scorer like JVR in a sheltered "third-line" role. Really they'd be a "2B" line, a line that is definitely has second line talent on it. Kreider, Pageau, and Konecny fit together for a multitude of reasons. First, they would be a line that could dominate using it's speed. Kreider also complements Konecny and Pageau well with his size and strength. Pageau is a goal scorer, Kreider can be a good finisher as well, and Konecny is having a breakout season as a legitimate playmaker. You then shore up the defense with a guy like Gustafsson because Robert Hagg isn't necessarily a guy you want to trust in the playoffs. Gustafsson has also shown some PP ability and the Flyers could sure use that right now. The only way you give up Gostibehere though to make this Kreider trade is if you know he will resign at a reasonable cap hit. Somewhere in the 5 million dollar range would be ideal.

Ottawa doesn't want Rubtsov and Philly are loaded in prospects. Make it one of Brink, Allison, O'brien, Wylie, Ginning, Ratcliffe etc. But depending on the prospect, Allison would need more compensation for example.

You'd be comfortable with Robert Hagg as your 6th defensemen in the playoffs? I personally would rather have a puck-mover who would come relatively cheap. If you were to hate giving up Pitlick, I understand but he could easily come back in FA

That's fair, but then it wouldn't be for a second as well. I wouldn't give up Brink or Ratcliffe in a deal for a rental. I'd be comfortable giving up O'Brien with, at most, a 5th round pick attached.

He means the Rangers don't need Dmen. I would expect the Rangers to get a 1st and something for Kreider elsewhere.

you mean a top 10 hitter in the league regularly ?
yeah , you'd be nuts not to be given in PHI that's the expectation
a floater like EG would get scratched

If you're the Rangers, you'd rather a first round pick then the opportunity to have someone like Ghost at a very reasonable cap hit for the next 4 years? Ghost at his best is better than anyone on their blue line. With a change of scenery, I think that could easily reinvigorate him to returning to his true form. However, they are in a tough spot with both Stall and Smith still on the books for another year after this. I understand, but I'd be hard pressed to say a package centered around a late first round pick is better than a known entity in Ghost.

In this draft I would center a package around a late first and most likely a roster player. I've seen a lot of trades like Jost and a first for Kreider and I would 100% rather that over just Ghost. I understand that two seasons ago ghost had 65 points but he has not seemed like that player at all since his first injury and now with his knee injury who knows how that will effect his dynamic skating ability. At his best Ghost would probably be their best Dman in the offensive zone and passable in his own zone but like i said he hasn't shown that in the past two years since his 65 point season and this is coming from someone who is a big fan of Ghost

That's a fair assessment. The whole scenario is just so different obviously without the significantly larger health problems the Flyers are dealing with, and it isn't right to think about hockey in terms of Lindblom and Patrick. The Flyers just don't have a player like Jost who's expendable. A prospect package of O'Brien, Rubstov/Rubstov, and a pick may interest them, but they'd have to retain significant salary.
