Maybe an offseason trade? Don't mind this. Just seems like we're too thin on D right now to work this out

True, the offseason would make sense

I'd rather make the trade now, though I get your point. Mayfield's been good for us, and while it's clear Dobson will eventually be a stud, he's still a bit too rookie to be relied on.

That said, I think we'll be fine if we keep Dobson on the 3rd pairing. Besides, I think early playoff exposure can be good for a young player; it certainly was for Pulock. If any injuries arise, we have Aho and Hickey in Bridgeport to fill in. For now, our need for offensive depth is too great. Can't go eight periods without a goal. We need a true 3C and Kerfoot could be just what we need. Worst case scenario, an injury hinders or ruins our playoff hopes and we still go into the draft with our 1st and 2nd rounder and not having to worry about retaining the asset we traded for.

I like this idea a lot. I could see Toronto asking for more, but not so much more that it'd ruin us.

Definitely more into this in the off-season, but I like it. Kerfoot would be really good here, pretty much a perfect fit.
