Realistic Trades that benefit all teams involved

Description
Look, if the plan is to "go for it", than go for it.

That being said, there has to be some level of give and take when generating these trade suggestions. There are far too many "homer eyes" at play when these things are being tossed out there.

Look at it from the perspective of the other teams involved instead of just what makes the Leafs better by offering up spare parts and garbage for good players.

Lets begin...

1. Ceci stays on Robidas Island for the remainder of the regular season because he simply makes too much money to suck as a bottom pairing guy.
2. Johnson will miss the rest of the regular season, (and possibly more), with his injury.
3. I expect Reilly will return late in March and so will Mikheyev.

I will therefore include Rielly and Mikheyev and their salaries within the construct.

IF, (and it is still a big IF), the Leafs make the playoffs. This is how I see their lineup with the trades that I will be suggesting....

That still may not be enough to get Manson from the Ducks if the trade market is as thick as I expect it will be for a guy like that if in fact he is even on the market.

So, the Leaf Homers will say no to trading Lijegren and the Duck Homers will say that isn't enough anyways, so, pick your poison. The Alberta kids are just plain crazy to begin with so, theres that. ;)

Have at 'er!!

So we trade Barrie to scratch fleury?
I know you edited it and we have 7 defenceman and Sandin is not getting his minutes

not gonna discuss Manson trades, too hard to speculate, and too many angry fans, so I'll stay out of that discussion. in terms of having him on this team though, I approve. I really don't think trading barrie for someone to sit in the press box is the answer ( I don't think barrie should be traded at all for that matter). so if you keep barrie and add Manson, there's no need to throw kapanen and dmytro away for Larsson, who I personally wouldn't trade kapanen for. At that point, if you're keeping kapanen, there's not really much need for Bennett, as the leafs have reams of forwards, but at the same time he does add grit and is a good secondary scoring option. But if an injury at defence happens (probably will given this season), you'll certainly wish you kept Dermott in the fold.

First trade helps both teams, I'm happy, second one EDM wins going away third CGY wins, 4th idk, I have been strongly opposed to getting Barrie, he's extremely overvalued (was in COL too) but for Fleury..... I could see it, though ik Tulsky won't like Barrie either

The Barrie trade was purely a cap move to be compliant salary wise.

I would do EDM or ANA trades - preferably Anaheim because I think Lilly is overrated and Toronto doesn’t give up a key roster player in that deal - but not both. Keep Dermott. Bennett I like but think a kerfoot-Bennett 1-for-1 swap makes more sense; kerfoot adds a little more offense which Calgary needs, while Bennett has a smaller cap hit and a slightly higher ceiling.

carloina trade doesn’t make any sense at all. I’m on board with a trade for a 7th defenseman but that should cost a late round pick not Barrie

Again, the Barrie trade was only to be cap compliant. He sucks defensively so with the other additions, that where I was coming from. As a UFA at seasons end.... I don't really care. If they could get more, great.

Yeah but moving him is only necessary if you trade for Manson AND larsson. Toronto is far better off with Barrie and kapanen in the lineup than larsson in the lineup and Hayden fleury in the press box

Are they though? I beg to differ given the other trades that I had proposed, and if those don't happen, there is little point moving forward.
