I hope they back out of the Martinez trade

Team: 2019-20 Vegas Golden Knights
Team Explanation
An aging, defense first LHD is not what Vegas needs. They need a puck mover. There are still better choices out there. Gustafsson for a second and fifth, Vatanen for a prospect a second and a fourth, Severson for pieces. I just think this is a boring move that won't improve the team. Martinez will be third pairing, and while he is better than Merrill, is this the upgrade that will provide consistency and push Vegas into a cup contender? I don't think so. Back out Vegas. Make a different trade.

I think the extra year and the low cap hit is a largely attractive part of this trade. These are guys that can be signed next year... Vatanen could always be brought in later. Teams have shown that the extra year is of prime importance.

I'd do two seconds and Hague for Petry. That would be about the most I'd offer and I know most Montreal fans wouldn't take that deal lol.

I guess my thought process is this isn't a move that gets you substantially closer to the cup. Year 1, Tatar was brought in to fortify the second or third line and make a deep run in the playoffs (even if the trade didn't work out, they made the effort to acquire an impact player.) Year 2 they got a superstar in Mark Stone. Year 3 and Martinez is supposed to be what pushes this team over the hill? I just don't buy it.

Issue is on that. Habs fans would want Krebs and a first along with 2 seconds and Hague

Calm down, Krebs + 2nd vs Petry half retained is fair seeing how the market is going

Imo the Knights are a great team (forward and defenseman play wise), but lack consistent and good goaltending, as Fleury has regressed (which is normal, he's getting older) and Subban hasn't been a good backup.

Exactly. Have to give Krebs, 1st, Hague, our first born. Lol

I don't think what you said is inaccurate, but I think Fleury will find his form before the season is over. Subban is an okay backup, but could definitely be better.
