Doesn't rly make sense.

Looking at the prospects traded thus far and applying that to the Avalanche organization:

Byram>>Newhook>Madden > Addison = Foote >>> Kaut >> Anyone else in the Avs system.

So if Toffoli is going for a 2nd + Madden and Kreider >>Toffoli. The only thing that really makes sense is 2nd + Newhook. The question is whether that 2nd turns into a 1st if resigned.

Your logic is sound, but Newhook's putting up absurd numbers this year. I think he and Byram are about as untouchable as can be. Timmins is in there, as in Annunen, but Rangers have no need of a goalie prospect. Kaut and Bowers are also likely in play.

I'd wager it'll be 2020 1st + Kamenev/Kaut/Bowers

That would be less than Coleman got and thus probably not in the ballpark...in a 1st + prospect format

Gorton would probably pivot to a Duchene-esque package: 1st + cond 1st + Kaut +

Since Blues are most likely offering 1st + Kyrou/Kostin and Boston is offering 1st + Studnicka. That would be the only way Colorado could realistically be in play.

I honestly don't know if Sakic does it. But it's ridiculous to try and compare guys like Kaut/Bowers to the previously mentioned prospects. I'm not sure if it works to Colorado because to compete with Boston/St. Louis it would take either

a) Newhook
b) an additional cond 1st with a decent likelihood of hitting (conference finals/resign)

Coleman is totally different because he has both term and an insane contract. Term is valuable and changes the game entirely. Toffoli is the best comparison this year. I agree with you though, a 1st + Kamenev/Kaut/Bowers probably doesn't get it done. If I were Joe, the highest I would go is 2020 1st + Jost. The kid needs a change of scenery, but a former 1st rounder. If it's more expensive than that, I'd stand pat. Our window is just opening, no reason to sacrifice the depth of our prospect pool for a run when we're down Kadri and Rantanen.

yeah unfortunately I don't think that gets it done. I'd think every contender that made a trade: a) Pitt b) St. Louis c) Washington d) Vancouver e) Tampa f) Islanders thought that their team overpaid. But perhaps that's just the market this year...

We'll see. I could see an add on our end in addition to Jost, but I don't think Joe's going to make a move just to make a move. This team's built for the long haul. And every team you just mentioned there, aside from Vancouver (clearly a pretender) and the Islanders are trying to squeeze what little is left out of their cup windows.

As for Jost, what everyone seems to forget is that he's only 21. He's also put up better numbers than Kyrou and Kostin. I bet he goes to the Bruins though. Kreider, that is.

I agree. My money is on a simple 1st + Jack Studnicka deal with Boston. Maybe a conditional pick for resigning, but I think that's about 95% of the deal.
