Plausible trades come Draft day Chicago Edmonton and Detroit

Description
Chicago trade accomplishes a few things. Chicago gets a lot of depth. Wennberg helps fill in that 3C spot and allows Dach to ability to play the 2C position and get more minutes. Chicago also gets a very good defenseman to help replace to possible departure of Gustaffson. Sonny Milano also adds depth on the left side. He could be a steal in this trade if a change of scenery is all he needs.

Jackets get a 2C that they desperately need. He has team control which is something that Jarmo likes and also could be a big help on the PP. The Jackets also take Smith as a cap dump to alleviate the cap on Chicago. Smith most likely would be depth but still could prove useful.

Detroit gets a goaltender that they can try and sign longterm. They won't need to develop him and he should be able to be signed at a decent price. This could be a huge for this team as they continue to rebuild.

The Jackets get Rasmussen. This guy can fit nicely in at 3C or on the wing. Thus creating more depth at center for a team that has never really had depth there.

Edmonton looks to a future in which it is possible they lose RNH. Due to this, Edmonton is going to be looking to strengthening this club and maximizing its chances. This deal gives them a proven shut down defenseman with some offensive upside. Savard is also very durable and eats minutes. Perfect fit for an Edmonton team that has problems keeping the puck out of its net. Josh Anderson provides security for the potential loss of RNH. He plays a heavy game and could be the perfect winger for McDavid.

Jackets get a haul of futures. Lavoie gives the Jackets a center prospect for the future and also pick up a winger to again give more depth to the pipeline for years to come.

Rasmussen is our future #3C no way Yzerman is dealing him for Korpisalo.

I don't think this trade is in Edmonton's best interests. They don't need Savard next year as their defense corps is pretty much set - they have 10 defensemen under control for next year and need to move some out, not bring more in. And you're expecting them to take on an additional $6M in cap hits too, which isn't workable either.

Lavoie is a RW in junior, not sure why he's listed as a center on this site. And he is tracking better than Anderson, has higher upside, is younger and cheaper. And with Kassian just re-upped for 4 more years and Yamamoto breaking out on the 2nd line, I don't see Holland having much interest in Anderson at all. He'd be a 3rd liner - at best - in Edmonton. That isn't worth the package you've put together.

Strome is their 2C of the future IMO, and has a higher ceiling than Wennberg, Nutivaata is a good piece, but not enough to move the needle

Just an FYI not sure you gave enough money to Strome. He’ll likely need $4-5M. The term is good there. Maybe add a 2nd pick and it works. Also Smith is a +/- for me. He did his job well and with some LTIR and without Strome the Hawks don’t need cap relief.

    1. No one on the DET roster under 25 is on the market. It would have to be a huge get, and Korpie isn't it.
    2. Strome is the exact type of guy CHI needs to keep as they get older. Wenneberg isn't going to fix CHI, their problem is on the back end, plus he's a few years older than Strome. And a .25PPG dman isn't helpful.
    3. I'm not sure how Savard helps with finding speed on McDavid's wing. He's a good 3/4 dman, but him, Milano, nor Anderson aren't the guys going on McDavid's wing.

These trades are pretty lopsided in favor for Columbus... not sure the other team makes them. We'll have to wait and see what the players do when they get back and healthy.
