Smarter way to move Backes....taking back Brendan Smith type player. Problem is.... you are way over cap, no?

The retention math here makes no sense to me. So boston moves $5mill out with backes gone but takes on $4.35 in smith (with another year)? that's a net savings of $700k. The bruins would just keep backes and by him out in the summer in that case.

Idk, if I were the bruins I'd take 1 year of a serviceable Dman over a few years of dead cap space.

So smith and backes retained are basically a wash. So a 1st, 2nd, Senyshyn, and Frederic for Kreider? Absolutely not. I appreciate that he’s on a hot streak right now, but no team is paying anything close to that.

How long would you a say a hot streak lasts? Because Kreider has been nearly a point per game player for the last 30 games

30 games isn’t going to make me disregard the rest of his 517 game NHL career. He’s at .605 points per game even with that hot streak.
