I know you didn't ask me, but . . .

You have one of the best defenses in the NHL, but Fedun is 31 and Polak and Sekera are 33 and UFA's. Only Gavin Bayreuther looks likely to be able to step in next year. On the front line, you have Pavelski (35), Comeau and Perry (UFA) (34), Radulov (33) and Cogliano (32). You have some prospects that could provide their eventual replacements (Dellandrea, Robertson, Tufte) but none of them look ready for prime time next season. My point is that you have an aging team, and trading away your first-round pick this year (especially for a rental!!) seems to me like it would seriously **** your turning the roster over.

And that's entirely without any reference to whether Pageau is really #2C material, or only having a typical UFA-contract-year outlier.

Edit: amusingly, CapFriendly's censor ***ed out a word meaning "to slow down" that, as a noun, is often used as an insult.

I agree with everything you said. This isn't my trade I just read about it and wanted to know if anyone thought it was good. Personally it's not horrible but Pageau would have to agree to resign and Ott might still have to add.

Having a bad GM has really cost us in the prospect department.
