I see it as Luchuk for Verroneau.

This trade is a wash. Neither player will ever amount to an NHL player (I'll end up eating my words here)

Interesting to see Luchuk go back to the senators as we acquired him in that Ceci deal. But fair trade overall.

I remember Max being highly touted out of college. Luchuk will never be more than an AHL player, so I like this deal for the Leafs. Get a higher chance at having an NHL player for a conditional 6th that might not even get moved.

Good day for Dubas on the low end, lets see if he can go big

The big part of this was The AHL deal sending Darren Archibald to Belleville. Very valuable depth addition for a Belleville team gearing up for a Calder Cup run.

Not So Mad Max looked good in the NHL when they first signed him, but he was pretty mediocre in the AHL, even being a regular scratch. He's a wicked fast skater and he has an NHL shot, but I doubt he'll ever be an NHL player. As far as the pick is concerned, he won't play ten games this year, and he'd be pretty hard pressed to make in next year. Could be a 4th liner, but he's hard pressed to find a niche, considering he's not a PK type.

I agree that he is far from guaranteed, but Luchuk is as close to 0% as you can reasonably predict, so I consider this a win.
Although this does make sense for Bellville too

If I was going to put money on anyone in this deal making it as an NHL regular, it'd probably be the conditional 6th.

I'd love to see Maximillian make it though. Good kid, and incredibly smart man. Went to Princeton to be a Mechanical Engineer while still being a full time Student Athlete.

Eh, I guess that is if the 6th even gets moved, and if it were moved it mean Max has a real shot so I'd still say its him, but whatever. Its an AHL deal lol.

Veronneau was overhyped; I also thought he'd be much better than he is. Still, if he gets pressed into duty, I still have hope that he'll surprise.

So pretty much it was:

To TOR:

Cody Ceci
Ben Harpur
Max Veronneau
2020 3rd round pick

To OTT:

Nikita Zaitsev
Connor Brown
MIchael Carcone
Conditional 2021 6th round pick

You would have killed for Veronneau in the GM Game... You were caught up in the hype of him smile.
I like this for the Leafs though. Gives them more options for a wing depth trade

He and his linemate Ryan Kuffner were among my many poaches. I wonder if they'd be any better if they remained on the same team...

An AHL filler and a conditional draft pick for a healthy scratch most nights.

Sounds fair.
