We didn't need another goalie but we got him for free so NYR wins the trade IMO.

is this one of those AHL moves where a team needs help to be able to field a team?
Are there injuries in their AHL team?

It usually manifests itself as a strange condition that will probably never be fulfilled, The CBA does not allow you to trade players for nothing, so this is the GM's way around that.

Basically, it's nothing. Sometimes it's because of some sort of AHL deal that involves someone whose NHL rights belong to a team, so the NHL teams have to agree to make the deal.

Maybe another move coming for the Flyers? Did they want a contract spot? I have no idea, though. Just mentioning it as a possibility.

The Rangers are reinventing hockey. They'll be playing with 2 forwards, 2 defenders and 2 goalies from now on.

Is this a prelude to the rangers moving one of their 3 starters? Stocking up the depth chart as insurance?

Flyers only signed Berube in case of a ****show like last year where we used 8 different goalies. Now that the regular season is mostly done, we need space in the AHL for one of the goalie prospects, Ustimenko or Sandstrom. Rangers get a free goalie. Fair deal.
