As a Ranger fan I would do that, but I've always liked Dorofeyev.

If they cant get his name on a contract before the deadline they have to trade him. Having him leave for nothing after the season would be awful, even if they made the playoffs

Whether or not there trying to make the playoffs likely won’t change the fact that they will likely trade Kreider
