The Devils are not trading a 25 year old defenseman with term when they have nothing in the pipeline. Severson is basically untouchable.

Pretty sure multiple places have said that they're trading either vatanen or severson

If Vatanen gets off of IR they will move him because he is UFA. Severson has 3 years beyond this one at a reasonable price.

If they get a good offer for Severson, I don't see why they wouldn't move him

Correct. They would have to move something else out. Even a Merrill would work, because they are at 9 dmen anyway so trade a depth guy and send one back down they can do it.

But they aren’t giving up a first for a pending UfA. They can get Gustafson cheaper and he cost less
