Doesn't Florida prize Trocheck as their Ryan O'Reilly lite? Why would they give him and a 1st rounder up for Brodin? This seems so lopsided towards Minnesota.

Agreed. Brodin + 1st + 3rd seems like roughly appropriate value for Trocheck

1 for 1. Minny needs a C. Florida needs a LHD that can play with Ekblad.

I think the deal is pretty close to 1 for 1 if Florida really wants Sturm they maybe add a 2nd or 3rd.

That's great but he is a 2c with one more year than Brodin. Wild don't have cap issues so cost controls not important enough to give up extra. Panthers need Brodin more than Wild need Trocheck as Wild are going nowhere so they can wait to find a center.

And the Wild aren’t the only team with an excess of defenseman and a need at center. Let’s take the Avalanche for example they be willing to part ways with Zadorov to help the forward core.

The 1 for 1 seems like one of those trades that would work really well for both sides but NHL GMs are usually too scared of what they might lose to realize how much they could gain.

Colorado has more to play for so they would pay more for a center. If Florida can get a deal from Avs I believe they should take it.
