FORget about the other trades - would this work - NSH NJ

Created by: Propeller09

Initial Creation Date: Feb. 20, 2020
Published: Feb. 20, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Thought process being this isn't Nashville's year. If they get in, it will be as 8th seed and they are looking at Stars or Blues in 1st round. I don't see that going well for Nashville.

Nashville has sold out to add the last few years, now they can get some of that back. For this to happen, They would have to really believe in Tolvanen and/or Tomasino.

They have 3 Excellent defensemen, one good young kid and a bunch of garbage. They don't seem to have much in their system. This would help.

Devils don't want Moore - they flip him for 4th rd pick / three team deal. Purely Cap.

I don't know why you want Simmonds. He's on pace for 33 points this year and has been dreadful.

Being an 8 seed means very, very little anymore.

I don't really. He is tough and Bruins need someone tough who can play. He still has decent speed. I wouldn't want him in an important role.

Preds won't trade forsberg for that - a third liner, a fine d prospect, a failing prospect, and a couple of early picks. Nothing really of interest there other than Vaak and the picks. They pass.

The speed is gone. He really hasn't played the tough guy role. He's been mailing it in. Might be battling an undisclosed injury. It's been tough to watch.

Agree, but they are currently 10th. I don't think they get in. and this team is clearly not as good as they have been previously which haven't been able to get over the hurdle.

Eek good to know. Is he mailing it in because he knows NJ isn't going anywhere and it's not worth putting body on line, or is there an injury? now, that I think about it... neither is great.

Yeah, it’s been weird. How does a team with that much talent have so many guys that just fell off so hard this year? Must be the Matt Duchene curse...

Feel like they’d try to move Johansen and/or Turris (cap dump)before Forsberg though.

Nashville does believe in Tomasino but I think their belief is fading in Tolvanen who hasn't shown the same skill as he did in the KHL but Nashville will not trade Forsberg he is one of the only players on the team besides Arvidsson who has 30 goal potential and has done it in the past.

I have heard more and more about next season Nashville moving on from Johansen and I can see why with him not being the goal scorer you want out of a number 1 center but who do you get for an 8 million per year player who doesn't hardly shoot. The return would need to be substantial to make It less of a blow that they traded a Norris caliber Dman for him just a few years ago.

Yeah - I would have to think with Forsberg there would be a good a chance with that the picks are both 1sts. Two Eastern con finals or 1 Cup... maybe make it Quarter finals? Heinen is a good mid six who is cost controlled. Not a world beater, but a nice solid 3rd liner who can play up in short stints.

What do you think it would take?

yeah, if I were running Nashville that is what I would do... What if it's Grzelcyk instead of Heinen?

I don't think they have any interest in trading Forsberg. But the Pred would probably want something like Vaakanainen + Lauko/Vladar + DeBrusk + 1st + maybe another pick or something -- I see Forsberg probably as the most untouchable forward on the Preds current roster.

They most definitely need to add more but not by subtracting your most gifted forward.

Hey Prop...
What about keeping 'Flip' (ie: Cap hit and Expansion)...is it do-able?

Don't want this come off as bad - I think Forsberg is awesome and I would take him on the Bruins in a heartbeat, but does he not seem like he should be better? I don't watch him daily, but when I see Preds games, he is force. I know he is still young, but I feel like he should be pushing 100pts/Panarin like numbers. How come he isn't getting there?

Sorry - I am confused. For Nashville to keep Forsberg after his current deal? Yeah, I think so. They need to move Turris. He stinks.

I think injuries have hurt his progress a bit - two years ago he had 64 points in 67 games which was his best ppg year, last year 50 in 64, and this year 40 in 53 so far. But this year is a down year for nearly the whole Preds team except for Josi, Ellis, Bonino, and Grimaldi basically. He looked unstoppable with Duchene at the start of the year, but that fizzled when he got injured. I think if he could stay healthy for a full season he would get 75+ points and that would boost his confidence for the following season. Unfortunately, he can also get a bit lazy sometimes so that doesn't help either. But other times, he puts the team on his back (much like Josi can). All in all, I think it's mostly related to health and confidence, and when healthy, he is a beast.

Yeah - It probably would be tough because Pastrnak is going to get paid as well as McAovy and Carlo right about the same time, but Krejci, Rask & Backes are coming off, but you'd need to replace them. I guess it all depends on drafting and if they plug with ELC's.
