Chicago should be looking to rebuild. If they're smart, they'll accept that deal. If they still think they can contend, they won't accept that deal.

That said, I'm worried about Saad's injury history. He got injured pretty badly this season and he's always played a very physical game. You'd have to think he'll age pretty quickly. Not to say the Isles shouldn't consider trading for Saad, but we could probably get him for less.

what's his injury history before this season? just checked hockey db and he's played at least 80 games the previous 3 seasons. He's still young, only 27 YO

Yeah, I just checked. Huh, I thought I remembered him having an injury history. Nvm.

Lou needs to make a significant move without giving up dobson or wahlstrom. 1st rd pick, bellows, wilde, should be in play. This is a win now team.

I mean, I agree with that so long as it comes with the understanding that "win now" does not mean "win the Cup now". We're not gonna win the Cup. You need to score more than 2 goals in 4 games if you want to win the Cup. Which is why I like trades for guys like Tatar or Saad. They have some term on them so we're not giving up a significant future piece for 30 games of a 2nd line forward.

Both ideas well thought out and realistic. My only comment is that the retention on Saad should be 50% so that there is room for another ELC/minimum player on the roster.
