Except he's not and hasn't been in a few years, he's actually quite useful on the D side of things these days, has decent numbers considering the tire fire Detroit is those season

Holy Green is offensive defenseman we do not need him. He doesn't even have much term on his contract.
He sucks in his own end, just another Tyson Barrie but worse

I mean Green is not great, he's definitely taken some steps back, which is to be expected as he gets older. But with the puck on his stick he can still get his head up and make a solid pass out of the zone, and his speed isn't really too bad for a 34 year old. He can play on a 2nd powerplay unit if need be, not recommended but if there's injuries or whatever, that's never a bad thing to have. And at $2.8M if we retain 50%, he will be a solid 3rd pairing guy who you can trust to get the puck out of your zone. And all his offensive instincts are still there, they don't just go away. He's not having the greatest season by his standards but nobody here is so.

He's better at getting the puck out of his zone than most offensive d-men but when he doesn't have the puck he isn't better than anyone Toronto already has.

Green probably isn't worth multiple pieces. I can see him being worth a late 2nd (especially if there is competition with WSH and FLA), but not Johnsson and a 2nd.

Also, I'm not sure you can trade people on IR/LTIR. There would need to be some cap manipulation as well to make moves with either Ceci or Johnsson.
