Bogstrom is a considerable throw-in. Shouldn't the pick be going the other way?

FLA most likely declines, yes, but this is just an idiotic take...

Swap Borgstrom for Noel and there's a deal here. Otherwise I can't see it happening

I don't think so, Brodin is an absolutely phenomenal defenseman. Best defender on the Wild IMO, and ultimately his value probably is Trocheck in a 1 for 1 deal, even if I do feel he is worth a bit more than Trocheck (reports are that Guerin would likely want more than Trocheck for Brodin alone). Staal is having a better season than Trocheck and with the way the trade market is I think we could get a 1st round pick and a solid prospect for him, or a good prosepect and a 2nd round pick similar to the Toffoli trade.

What would you think if I made the pick a 3rd instead? Borgstrom has really not had a great season in the AHL this year, so I figured his value would be somewhat low.

Frankly I don't get why Trocheck and Staal are included in the deal.

Just my personal view, but after losing both Hawryluk and Malgin in a matter of week, I think FLA is done moving young forwards at this point.

I figured Florida would want at least some center depth behind Barkov while Heponiemi developed, so that;s why I included Staal. Trocheck is included because Guerin wants a top 6 center for Brodin.

not getting Borgstrom or Noel on top of Trocheck. Trocheck is almost back to 100% has been piling up the points lately. He will be fine. What about another young center think Ang (B-prospect)

I mean even if they moved Borgstrom they still have a fantastic pool of young forwards. Heponiemi, Tippett, Denisenko, and Noel to name a few. I see top 6 upside for at least those first three, and middle 6 upside for Noel.

Probably, but their C depth gets significantly weaker.

Imo this deal works with a prospect from other position...

Would you straight up just trade Donato here for a 2nd? 3rd? Not exactly sure what his value is but id guess around that. I think downgrading trocheck for D really harms their forward group. Just can't see a hockey deal happening... at least not yet.

Eh... I didn't like his game very much last night. He scored a goal but other than that he turned the puck over a lot and looked timid. I want insurance if we move our best defenseman for Trocheck, and to me it has to either be Borgstrom or Heponiemi. I don't think Brodin alone gets Trocheck AND one of those two, of course.

I wouldn't to be honest with you. I'd consider adding him instead of Staal and removing the pick, so Brodin and Donato for Trocheck and Borgstrom. I like Donato though, I'd prefer to keep him.

Not getting either one, why would they trade Trocheck and one of the guys that would be his replacement? Makes no sense.

If this happens, they can start on the Bill Guerin statues today

Might as well build Bergevin, Blake, and Wilson statues then because the market is insane this year if you're a seller.

That's fair, but they have two centers with decent potential and only one spot. I don't think it's that far fetched. That's the whole reason we'd trade Brodin, we have five top 4 D and only four spots...

Meh. This thread is a mix of people who see Brodin as a #3/4 guy in value and people trying to pinpoint what his value really is. It's a tough one because he has always been seen as the Ekholm- like cog hidden under the giants of Josi and Ellis, except here those are Suter and Spurgeon... and Dumba. However unlike in NSH, it appears the big names are trending down and Brodin is trending up.

It's a difficult one.
Martinez, on same term, went for 2 2nds. Brodin is better, but by how much is the question. Definitely getting more than 2 2nds. We know that.
I think this trade is bias to the Wild quite a bit... but it's in the right ballpark

K.I.S.S ... in other words keep it simple stupid. Trocheck for Brodin straight up is quite fair. No need for anything else

What about something like Brodin and Donato for Trocheck and Weegar? I see lots of similarities to the Hanifin - Hamilton trade in the possibilities here, trying to echo that a bit.
