Meh. This thread is a mix of people who see Brodin as a #3/4 guy in value and people trying to pinpoint what his value really is. It's a tough one because he has always been seen as the Ekholm- like cog hidden under the giants of Josi and Ellis, except here those are Suter and Spurgeon... and Dumba. However unlike in NSH, it appears the big names are trending down and Brodin is trending up.

It's a difficult one.
Martinez, on same term, went for 2 2nds. Brodin is better, but by how much is the question. Definitely getting more than 2 2nds. We know that.
I think this trade is bias to the Wild quite a bit... but it's in the right ballpark

For what it's worth, here's the national statistics writer at The Athletic on Brodin:

"Dom Luszczyszyn: It’s no wonder the prices are all out of whack for defenders during the deadline: With six days left the market is basically already dry, especially for rentals.

If I’m a team right now I’m probably going hard after a guy like Jonas Brodin who is for my money probably one of the best defensive defensemen on the planet. He will be hard to pry out if Minnesota, but he’s worth the price, especially since he comes with term on a reasonably cheap deal – he has one more season with a $4.17 million cap hit. No one else available will provide the impact Brodin does."

I know I'll get pegged as a homer, but Brodin is seriously a phenomenal player that nobody talks about. I really don't want to move him and I'm not particularly sold on moving him for Trocheck, but we need centers so frickin' badly that I'm intrigued by Trocheck even if he does have some concerns.

oh yeah i know for sure how he carries more value than people credit him for. Finding a comparable for how much value though is what loses me. Muzzin obviously comes to mind. First and a B prospect. I see the wild getting more, but not by a ton. First and Noel type thing as a start. But I could well be short selling.

This is perhaps the hardest guy in the league right now to pinpoint for value.

That was a different deadline, though. In this market I think Muzzin gets more than he got last year especially with the extra year he had at the time he was traded. The problem is I don't think there really is a comparable for Brodin.
