You know Risto sucks right?
Like Calgary's analytics guy successfully talked them out of getting him a while ago. Zero chance Toronto wants him.

The trade isn’t actually that bad value wise, they get a top 6 F with term, left shot d guy who can play 16-18 mins a night a B level C/W prospect who can jump in the bottom 6 next year and a 3rd round pick(might be a few years down line but still a early round pick), Barrie will help with leafs depth and give Calgary that right shot puck moving d they are missing(still need a top 6 wing, maybe a johnsson can be thrown in for another 2nd or something idk) and the trade with Anaheim clears ceci cap and gives them a pick for it while getting an ok right shot d prospect with some potential for a depth guy for the leafs(might need to send more, maybe another pick or another prospect not really sure what the price to take ceci is, which is hard to gauge rest of value in trade)

Tbh it's 0 chance you want him.

There's a good chance Dubas wants him. He seems to like these offensive D-men.

Not for that price obviously.

Dubas is an analytics guy.

Just out of curiosity, can you look up Barrie's stats from last year?

I'd look them myself but it seems you have to pay up to use that site.

Not sure I have these particular ones of Barrie saved (have seen them tho), but I was publicly against trading for Barrie and Barrie grades MUCH better

Yeah they're better.

I'd be curious to see Risto's numbers for this year. BUF has been better as a team this year so I do feel like that chart of yours is a little outdated...

The stats nerds have a running joke that THIS YEAR (as in every year for all of eternity) is the year Risto will finally get gud.
Which is to say he is still trash.
I'll see if I can find anything more concrete

I looked https://www.hockey-reference.com/players/r/ristora01.html and well, while his numbers are not exactly good, they're better than they've been at any point of his career.

Idk how much you've looked into Micah's model (the heatmaps) but d men almost NEVER grade even at a positive, though that's still not good, it's not as bad as it seems

Most Dmen don't grade this poorly. He is many levels below average (Below replacement level).

Oh yeah, he's still not good, but Micah also thinks Christoffer Ehn is better than Marcus Pettersson lol

That is because Pettersson is a 4-5 Dman (same as Holl). He is very overrated on this site (or more accurately, his potential is). Marino is the real gem.

Pull up MP's RAPM lol, it was comparable to Weegar last year, and Ehn is largely considered one of the 2-3 worst forwards in the league

MP is a good Dman, I am not saying he isn't. Holl is also a good Dman. They are both comparable impactwise and Holl is a 4-5.
I am also not seeing anything about Ehn being better lol. I also doubt he would be comparing a Dman to a Forward in player evaluation.

Bracco’s value has gotta have taken a hit after this year
So for BUF to do it,
they’d have to really like Kapanen & Dermott
