I think Bob McKenzie has the same idea as me. Flip Barrie for futures, trade for a long term solution. You only have half of that here.

If Barrie is moved I think Vancouver makes a lot of sense. Could get a rental in return like Tanev and pick up another roster player like Stecher or Gaudette or someone like that. High likelihood Vancouver offers Barrie the most in FA anyways so be good to get a useful asset for him

They are supposedly talking. From what I have heard Stecher may be part of a possible return. Stecher and whatever else we would get are not what the leafs need. But could be used to flip. I saw another agm with woo and a 2nd. That is something we could probably work with. Still holding out for severson or Manson.

I agree that if it's Stetcher plus picks or prospects that it better be used to get a more legit guy. Which is why I wouldn't be against Barrie for Tanev and Gaudette. Fills Vancouver's needs and Toronto's. Canucks are one of the teams likely to pay Barrie what he wants so is want a good young asset in return. & Leafs need centres and a defensive d-man. They had interest in Tanev before but with his injury history and the likelihood that Barrie re-ups in Vancouver, I think it should cost a player like Gaudette to get a deal done

Are there any ideas surrounding moving Barrie for a more defensive D-man? That's the kind of move I could see Dubas pulling with Barrie. At $2.75m, it'll be hard to find anyone else in the league that would be considered an upgrade (ignoring any studs on entry level deals). But finding another contending team that needs more offense and can spare a stay at home guy...that's where I think the leafs could potentially benefit.

Although I'd definitely do the deal above if the assets and cap space allow Kyle to bring in someone else in a different deal

I was going to say how terrible this trade is, but then I noticed you were going to give the Canes a 4th too!!! Wow you’re generous. Kidding aside- this is really bad. Canes might consider a 2nd for Barrie.

That’s the issue. Why would a team give up a defensive d-man for a powerplay specialist rental who’s terrible in his own zone

I think you're talking about mine where I had Woo, Vitanen and a conditional pick for Barrie and a conditional pick...we basically moved up a round if the conditions were met.

Barrie for Hamonic would have been nice before his injury.

It would have to be a team with that need... CGY made sense 1vs1 for Hamonic if he didn't get injured IMO.

Lol, no they will get better than that if they move him. Bottom pairing Dmen are pulling in better. At least be reasonable. I would do Barrie for mckeown and the later of the two 1sts. With Hamilton out the deal makes sense. I can’t see him resigning there though. So maybe my value is a bit high.
