One final Trocheck idea for the day

Created by: TanSor
Team: 2019-20 Minnesota Wild
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 20, 2020
Published: Feb. 20, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
FYI: Panthers play in about 10 minutes for my fellow Wild fans that are interested in seeing him.
Trades
MIN
  1. Trocheck, Vincent
Additional Details:
Ultimately I think this trade might happen. Both sides seem to want more, which usually indicates a 1 for 1 would be fair. Trocheck fills a big hole down the middle for the Wild and he has that coveted right shot. He's more of a puck handler than a playmaker, but I think Fiala could drive the playmaking on a line with him.
FLA
  1. Brodin, Jonas
Additional Details:
Panthers get a stud LD to pair with Ekblad and lock down their first pairing. I would hate losing him, but we have five top 4 D right now and the market for defenseman is probably the craziest it will be for a while.

Small add from Wild would probably get this done only cause Trocheck is on a good deal with some term left.

What do you think Koivu gets on a new deal???

Koivu will retire after this season. Reports are Guerin would likely want the Panthers to add, so I don't see him adding anything but maybe he settles in a 1 for 1. Trocheck does have some concern with his ankle injury, after all. If he's the 70+ point player of 2 years ago, then I could totally see the Wild adding slightly, but he hasn't been that the past year and a half.

I had Trocheck on my fantasy team a few years ago, he was amazing when healthy.

Oh absolutely, but he broke his ankle and for a player who has built his game around speed that is a major concern. He was an absolute stud a couple years back.

Instead of Trocheck, what about futures instead? (Florida's 2020 first and Heponiemi, Noel or Tippett.). There are several players Minnesota might add, and it should be noted that Florida is the most right-handed team in the League.

I would be ecstatic if Guerin got a 1st and Heponiemi for Brodin. What are your thoughts on what the Wild would need to add for that package? I assume the cats would need to dump salary, who would they send over?

I think Guerin waits until the TDL to make any decision about Brodin. Trade Brodin away and it'll be the GM saying the season is over.

Any of Dumba (who is finding the scoresheet lately), Hunt, or Patery could be traded without the team really noticing. Give Menell a shot on the 3rd pair/PP and see what happens.

I mean the deadline is only 3.5 days away. And I'd agree if we didn't trade him for a roster player like Trocheck or Domi, but if it's either of those two it isn't necessarily throwing in the towel on the season (not saying well end up making a run but both are established NHL centers).

I'd agree if Brodin wasn't the best d-man on the team this year. Spurgeon (shouldn't have been re-signed) has been lackluster, Suter looks slow (for him), and something with Dumba isn't right. Brodin and Soucy have been the bright spots in the d-corps this year. I like Soucy, but expecting him to fill the void left by Brodin is a huge task.

If Suter and Dumba were playing the way they were before their injuries it wouldn't be a big deal to trade Brodin. The d-corps could handle the loss then.

I still think the D corps could handle the loss of Brodin and Dumba. We are deeeep at D. Remember we still have Belpidio in the system too. I think Soucy and Hunt step up to the second D pairing and we have Menell and Pateryn as the third pairing. That's deep.

Regarding Trocheck it's likely a 1-1 as TanSor has it here. BUT, Guerin better not call it a hockey trade in his presser or the combination of that plus the Boudreau firing will mean the honeymoon is completely over.

Yeah, that's the snag. I can't construct a trade where they can dump enough to stay under the cap, and postponing the deal until the summer kinda vitiates the advantage of having Brodin for the stretch run and playoffs.

Menell is better than Belpedio, and Pateryn is better than both of them. The Wild are deep at RD, but don't have much at LD. Seeler was lost in waivers. Belpedio can play offhand as a LD,

As much as I've liked Soucy this year his limited top-4 time came with Brodin (the ultimate babysitter). It's different when a d-man goes from playing with him to having to try to be him.

I gave it another shot. See what you think.
