Why would the Canucks trade a Tanev who is as good as Barrie and have to give up all those picks too?. shakes head

Very very nice!
I like the team, with just a little bit of tinkering, and Mikheyev back at it, a more defensive Dman in Tanev for Barrie, great idea. Vancouver might be overpaying in that trade, even without the conditional 2nd, but a great Leafs team to make a run!

?????. There are both UFAs. It is crazy talk to think teams that any team is going to sign Barrie for eight years, which is the only advantage a team has when he has UFAs. The max other teams can offer is seven years.

There is absolutely no chance that the Canucks trade Tanev as he is a great defensive defenceman but more importantly he is Quinn Huges defence partner. Tanev has been a real mentor for Quinn Hughes and has his back at all times which has allowed Quinn Hughes to be a dominating offensive defenceman in his first year in the NHL. Quinn Hughes will owe Tanev big time after he is named the best rookie in the NHL this season.
