Tatar is 29 and signed for one more year. He’s on pace for a career-high 70 points, but floated between 40 and 60 points for most of his career.
Girard is 21 and signed for 7 years at $5M starting next year. He’s on pace for 40 points this year, and has shown steady growth in offensive production each of his last 3 seasons in Colorado. Not to mention he’s a very smart defender. You couldn’t get Colorado to trade Girard for Tatar straight up, not to mention the first round pick and Bellemare

Mergus hit on it. The Avs just gave Girard a 7yr extension making him part of the core. Imo like Mergus Tartar isn’t worth Girard straight up.

Minnesota has been patient waiting for Kaprizov, supposedly the best player in the KHL, If they are rebuilding mode why would they trade a top notch ELC along with a defenseman who alone is worth more (imo) than the package coming back. Also for what it is worth I think Poehling as a prospect is overrated because of where he was drafted which I do understand.
