NOW, why would the Stars trade Gurianov for a rental? You're probably asking that question. Gurianov is another one of those speedy young wingers still under his ELC that has a ton of potential in the league. I feel like Jim Nill sees Gurianov as a younger version of Chris Kreider, but I also feel like he doesn't want to wait 3 or 4 years until Gurianov becomes a 26 year old power forward. Seguin is 28 and Benn is 30, by now I think Dallas fans are jonesing to see them raise a cup over their heads. I can assume that the Stars front office feels the same way. An addition like Chris Kreider puts Dallas in a win now mode easily. 2nd place in the Central and 2 points behind St. Louis, Kreider becomes a power play threat for Dallas while slotting in with Perry and Seguin on the first line. This is a move that I can 1000% see happening come Monday. Please share your thoughts below

Kreider doesn't bring 40 goals to the table, we know that. By paying him what he wants it won't satisfy what the Rangers fan base wants come 2 to 3 years down the road. I do believe Kreider's speed is going to be there when he's 30 years old, but there is a ton of young forward talent on the horizon for New York. I would expect David Quinn to give Gurianov a shot with Zibanejad and Buchnevich on the first line in the absence of Kreider. Look for players like Morgan Barron, Vitali Kravtsov, and Lauri Pajuniemi to get a crack at the roster come October 2020 to fill in for the missing speed that Kreider left behind. Might I add that most of that speed is being recovered with Gurianov's quick feet and elusive stride.
