I did debate that exact scenario when doing this, so I probably would. I just decided to keep Merrill for depth.

Also I selected VGKs 3rd this year, but would probably try to compromise at NJD 3rd which will essentially be a late second at this rate.

With the 2020 draft being as good as it is, a 2021 draft pick next year isn't that much of a give. Plus, NJD's 3rd is basically a late 2nd rounder..

Also, I like that goalie trade. Smart move.

Fair enough. I just went with a guy buried down cap friendly. Like I mentioned it’s more for cap relief and organizational depth. So anyone that can play in the minors next season would do.

Honestly I selected the picks I did based on VGK having 2 next year in the second and 2 this year in the third.
