That Lucic contract has 3 years AFTER this season.
Not unless CAL takes Backes and throws in a 1st round pick that we flip for Kreider.

Lucic at 2.6 is viable though, its about the same as the Reaves contract. However since 750k of his contract is already retained I'm pretty sure Calgary can only retain up to 2.25M totaling 50%

Overall, the post point is an important one to address = "toughness or aka. Wilson insect-repellent".
If only Lucic was younger, faster, better, cheaper and perhaps could be just a playoff guy inserted yearly in March.

Yeah - I am a little unclear on how a buyout would work with retained salary too.
Based on the buyout calc it looks like it would split between Calgary and Edm. So if Boston's was half of Calgary the buyout would be
2021- 2.4m
2022- 1.75m
2023 - 250k
2024 - what looks like +250K?
2025 - what looks like +250K?

I wasn't talking about buyouts though, the max a contract can be retained is 50%. Edmonton is already retaining 12.5% (750K) so Calgary would only be allowed to retain 37.5% (2.25M)

That might work for both esp. as Cal is possibly hoping for a group shake-up?
BOS gets grit-sandpaper and CAL gets "200ft" help with the -10 goal differential...
