VGK needed the cap space. Eakin didn't seem like a great fit imo. WPG makes this move because Little is out all year. Fair deal.

Win-win trade. Winnipeg got much needed forward depth for cheap. Vegas has cleared some cap space. And the player is getting a chance to restart. Good for all sides.

Seems like a bad trade for Winnipeg.

You shouldn't be taking on nearly 4 Million dollars in cap space for a guy who will be playing 3rd line.

This isn't the trade Winnipeg should be making if they want to make the playoffs.

Great deal for Winnipeg, a great depth player who will just be a cheap rental and they gave up a draft pick (3rd or 4th) where the odds of making the NHL aren’t even that great

Great for both....Hopefully Eakin can repeat his production from last year and the Jets will be loving this trade

Because of injuries, he will play on the 2nd line...Cap space isnt a worry...we have 22M...

Have you seen Cody Eakin at all this year? He's been literally horrid. The worst player on the VGK team by far and the team played better when he was injured.

I haven’t watched a ton of VGK this year, can anyone explain what happened with Eakin? He’s coming off 2 solid seasons, just rough luck? Line change? Regression? Just interested

No one on Vegas is worse than Ryan Reeves, no one.

Allow me to give you the run down. Last season he had Max Pacioretty and Alex Tuch on his wing (it wasn't be choice, mostly because Stastny got injured) and he played well that season. This year I do believe it is a case of regression because he has still had Alex Tuch on his line for most of it (and Cody Glass who is a great talent). He's also had Chandler Stephenson (who found new life in Vegas) and despite everything, he has failed miserably. Some of this can be rough luck yes but mostly... he has just been a failure as a Knight.

Hope he rebounds in Winnipeg because he is a nice guy but if I were Winnipeg, I wouldn't hold my breath

I feel that Vegas wins this one; they get a mediocre contract off the books and they get a pick in return.

This is fair. Vegas clears out some cap room and Winnipeg gets a player to fill in a role while half their centres are on IR.

He's a rental. If they don't like him/don't want him they can let him walk in July.

It's not about the value to me. It's more about the salary, but taking a look now, the Jets have a ton of cap space, so it doesn't hurt them.

Vegas on the other hand shed salary for a much bigger move.

Eakin was highly overrated for so long that I think the pendulum has swung too far in the other direction. This looks like a great steal for the Jets. Eakin scores over 40 points last season in a bottom 6 role!

I guess Eakin’s cap hit limited their options. But, the Jets are making moves up the standings. Look out.

Should Vegas target another D? With Tuch on LTIR they can make it happen w/ the cap. Their bottom pair of Merril and Engelland is pretty weak.
Or are they gonna pursue JG Pageau to replace Eakin?
