Jackets just can't give that up for Simmons. I think he would be a fit to this team but that 3rd is a little too stiff for the Jackets. Value is about right but they just can't do it.

With the injuries currently they should have no option but to acquire someone if they want to fight for a playoff spot.

By the same token, as they have suffered so many injuries, the only assets they can move are either prospects or picks.

    Nah, not really.

Johnsson's value is not that high at the moment due to him being injured probably until the next year. He's a question mark.

Bracco is a question mark. No one knows whether he can perform in the NHL level or not.

Dermott is the best piece here at the moment, but generally RHDs are more valuable than LHDs as there's not as many of them.

And based on how much Leafs suck at the moment that pick is going to be a 2nd rounder...

CAR deal - looks about right, perhaps a little pricey. Would change the 2021 2nd pick to a conditional 3rd/4th
CBJ deal - 3rd is probably fair here if NJD eats half his salary. Otherwise likely a 4th.
COL deal - NJD declines...COL needs to add another piece (also worth noting, I don't view Kaut as highly as others). Could see NJD ask for Alex Beaucage + Sampo Ranta + 1st
TOR deal - Its the same Dermott/Bracco/2nd for Severson deal we have seen 1000 times. Still needs Liljergren or another blue-chip player to make even.
VAN deal - since expansion draft is coming up, and Eriksson has to be protected, I'd imagine the cost of moving him would be astronomical. No one is touching that.

Dunno about the CAR trade. Imo Vatanen is worth two 2nds.

Yeah eating salary for the CBJ trade is not a problem.

Sure, there can be other prospect heading to NJ than Kaut.

Adding another good prospect from TOR would make it an overpayment. If Liljegren was added, Bracco and the pick would be dropped.

Eriksson doesn't have to be protected. He doesn't have NMC.

Bracco has little value, if any. He is AHL+ player. And Dermott is meh. Johnsson injured. I'd say Liljegren+two 2nds for Severson would be even. Drop the others.

Eriksson has no movement clause, no? If he is exposable for expansion draft, this is seems closer to possible.

Leafs need to shed some cap for the next year, which is why Johnsson is added.

Imo they should not move their best RHD prospect. He's important piece for the young team.

And no, Eriksson doesn't have a no movement clause on his contract. There's a no trade clause though.

Hypothetically... but Simmonds doesn't add anything we can't already call up from Cleveland at lower cost.
