TDL with CAR NYI TBL - tell me how much I suck please

Created by: Jco5ta5

Initial Creation Date: Feb. 23, 2020

Description
I tried to back off my asking prices from the past with these trades but... it is the TDL and GMs tend to overpay sometimes. So here are my explanations. Please read before you spew hate and "hang up the phone".

CAR: they need a goalie. Bottom line. Lehner is best available that can be traded. He'd do well with the D in CAR. So I plucked a D prospect and 2nd pick which is conditional to a 1st if they go to SCF or he resigns. D prospect (which they have tons of) and 2nd pick not bad for a Vezina-esque goalie. I took Forsberg back since CAR has too many goalies under contract (max is 6).

NYI: They need some more offensive help on wing. Saad is not flashy or puts up 1.0+ppg but he is a perenniel 20 goal, 50 point per season player who plays 200 ft, PP and PK. One of the most consistent and hardest workers on the Hawks. I took Bellows who most NYI fans were trading earlier this year who is on cusp of NHL and retained some salary to help NYI resign their players. No picks as this is a hockey trade and not a rental.

TBL: they need D help due to injuries. They are a high offense machine with Stammer and Kuch and Gus can fit right in on PP. I took a prospect that I don't know much about but appears to be putting up a good season in the QMJHL and is only 20 years old so will need some development but may turn into a nice piece for the Hawks. I asked for a 3rd pick conditional to a 2nd on resigning. I think that's pretty decent for both signs. Low risk, high reward on both sides. It's possible that Fortier is a different player. I literally don't know much about him so please TBL fans let me know if I'm on point or far off on him.

I signed Ian Mitchell because I expect him to be in the NHL when his season is over in Denver.

Trades
1.
CHI
  1. Bean, Jake
  2. Forsberg, Anton
  3. 2020 2nd round pick (NYR)
Additional Details:
Forsberg in trade since CAR has too many goalie contracts and exceeds limits.

Draft pick becomes 1st round 2020 pick if CAR makes SCF or Lehner resigns.
2.
CHI
  1. Fortier, Gabriel
  2. 2020 3rd round pick (TBL)
Additional Details:
Third round pick becomes 2020 2nd round pick if Gustafsson resigns with TBL
3.
NYI
  1. Saad, Brandon ($1,500,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Retaining 1.5M of Saad salary keeps his Cap Hit for NYI lower for next year and is a bit of a sweetener for adding a higher end prospect. He's not a rental as he has another year in his contract, so no picks or conditions.

Your under the cap floor of 60.2 Million. Plus Gustafsson would make tampa over the cap

Good to know about the cap. Hawks will likely add a AHL player to scratch and carry 23 man roster. Also I think I'm artificially below because I signed a college player and put him on LTIR which is premature. He'll sign in late March when college season is over and then join the team full time. His $925,000 is probably causing that. Let me adjust.

As far as Tampa, I'm sure they can make another move to get under or to satisfy both CHI and TBL, if they have a UFA cap dump (Rutta maybe?) that could be added in the trade.

CHI wouldn't make any of these trades for those returns. Don't cater to the mob.

Thanks for being gentle. Any thoughts on improving the trades or alternate trades? Or maybe stand pat?

I can’t find anywhere that says there is a limit to the amount of goalies you can have signed. Pretty sure it’s just something EA made up for their Franchise Mode.

In real life Seabrook, Shaw, & De Haan count against the cap.

Any trade for Saad or Lehner starts at a 1st. Gustafsson likely starts at a 2nd.

Saad's return should be a pretty good haul when you look at what Coleman got NJD. Isle fans seem pretty alright with a 1st + Bellows or Wilde.

I hear ya and don’t disagree it’s just every time I post something like that I get crucified on this damn site. So I eased off the gas a little.

So they count but there’s cap relief which can be used. Got it.

Forsberg would likely use the "putting a pistol to your head" clause before going back to Chicago... I mean Rockford.
