Power Forward Line under 25

Created by: Billy739
Team: 2019-20 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 23, 2020
Published: Feb. 23, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
TBL since 2012 has had 9 first rounders of which they traded 4 , drafted 5 and of those 5 drafted kept 1 as 8/9 pieces were dealt to a add today's core pieces.

This needed to be stated as i'm targeting Cal Foote in a deal for Domi .
Domi agree's to re-sign at a 4.5-5m term for a full NMC like the bulk of your core

MTL will take on any forward contract but with Domi and Cirelli both needing deals in the summer with Shattenkirk . As such i figured its safest to take Gourde given his term , cap vs his play and the fact he's an undrafted Quebec local means you're making the biggest return possible .

Gourde is about 1.5m-2m overpayed so MTL is paying for value but expecting a discount for giving up a younger players who's a RFA that can help you win today and another decade .

4th line is also our 2nd PP unit and will be a game changer more often then not.
we dont have the skill to run a top 6 at 19-20 minutes or a player who can play 22-24 like DET and Larkin. What we do have is enough skill to run all for lines evenly telling them all whichever line gets hot becomes the starting line next game and i think that continues the trend of us leading the league in shots but for a change we'll start actually scoring goals

4th line is a perfect and an example of youth mentored by veterans i'd like to see from our teams coach right now .
Trades
1.
MTL
  1. Foote, Cal
  2. Gourde, Yanni
  3. 2022 3rd round pick (TBL)
Additional Details:
conditional 3rd becomes a 2nd if Domi wins cup with TBL before draft
TBL
  1. Domi, Max
Additional Details:
Agree's to re-sign at 4.5-5m over 5-7 years for full NMC
2.
MTL
  1. Barbashev, Ivan
  2. Kostin, Klim
  3. 2021 1st round pick (STL)
Additional Details:
MTL gets 2 players who could suit up on the 4th line today but have potential for middle 6 careers . Barbs if left at Center to grow is a bottom 6 guy but as a winger he's middle 6 forsure.Kostin's power forward style resembles that of Armia but with more anger to his game .

1st will be a late pick likely 28th-31st overall and while this draft is deep its not that deep . everyone after 20 is a 3-4 year minimum project player for the most part.
STL
  1. Tatar, Tomas ($1,500,000 retained)
  2. Thompson, Nate
Additional Details:
Tatar at 3.3m cap leaving them in good position for next year as well to go on another cup run with him.

Thompson gives them a solid 4th line Center who's a leader and arguably one of the best in the league because of his strong shutdown ability and his strong passing ability springing a lot of odd man rushes . He's a big body who reminds me kind of Scott Thornton in the way he plays(hard nosed)

STL becomes a better team and with Taresenko out it can only get that much better when he returns to a team with Defensive support without sacrificing offensive production .
3.
MTL
  1. Gostisbehere, Shayne
  2. Ratcliffe, Isaac
Additional Details:
conditional 2nd if Petry wins cup with PHI . if they do no MTL receives no picks
