I would prefer the COL or STL trade. The last thing the Rangers wanna do is risk Kreider signing in the Metro long term. The deal from CAR or NYI would need to be substantially better than a deal out west, imo.

If they want Kreider they would have to. Rest of their prospects are not as attractive. Not saying that they will do it; but I am saying that in terms of value it's the closest to what I think the outcome will be (if traded). St Louis is looking less likely because of cap situations and difficulty moving larger contracts to make room for Kreider, as Doug Armstrong recently said.

There's a good chance that regardless of where he's traded, he does not re-sign with said team and signs in the metro (even if the team he is traded to is in the metro). In other words, NYR should take the best deal they get. However, I do agree with you to some extent when it comes to NYI. I think Lou would have to pay a much larger price for Kreider than anyone else (which is why I think NYI do not acquire Kreider at the deadline).
