Brandon Sutter isn't a cap dump. He's a good player, so if you want him, you'll have to actually pay for him. He's smart defensively and chips in offensively

Still, VAN will need to move him at some point and his cap hit might be a problem

Even at 2.5M retained that is a no go. That’s still 8M for the next 6 yrs for a goalie that is already 32, and a team that will have to contracts for Landeskog (caching), Burakovsky (caching), Makar (CAching), and MacKinnon (CACHING CACHING CACHING) along with contracts for Byram, Newhook, and just about everybody not named Mikko or Girard. This is why Sakic won’t take a Price at all.
