With good linemates on good team as 3rd line center he is definitely viable. Even if he`s not putting up big numbers he is still effective.

I think his value would be in being a quarterback on a team's second line powerplay.

I don't see him having much of a role other than 4th line. We know he's not filling in the top 2, and they have much faster options at 3C.
I don't even know why anyone would debate that.
