That trade is bad unless sheary increases value with Crosby and ERod helps the PK and adds a couple goals late

It's horrible. Sheary is barely an AHL player whereas Kahun is a legitimate top 6 forward.

I dunno, I think Kahun is a bit overrated. I liked that he was an RFA and we could have gotten assets for him in the off-season (if we didn't think we could re-sign him), but Sheary is abetter fit for top-6 minutes. Additionally we get a fast bottom 6 player who can kill penalties and replace ZAR's steady fourth line minutes while he's out. Prob a fair trade

Yea ... I think it's pretty even sided, we probably should have retained some but it's not bad🤷🏼‍♂️

Sheary is a borderline ECHL player? He's driven possession on a terrible Sabres team (playing with Vesey and Johansson) and Kahun is not a legitimate top-6 forward. Someday, maybe. But he's already 24 so he's not exactly a top prospect either. Sheary's underlying data is better than Kahun's (possession/shot generation/etc) while playing on a bad team (yet still one of their better players). I'm not exactly ****ting rainbows over the trade, but to get two versatile players for 1 who we likely couldn't re-sign this off-season is still pretty decent work. Especially with Aston-Reese out indefinitely, Rodrigues is also a perfect player to slot in for him.

I don’t agree that Sheary is versatile. He needs to be playing with a highly skilled center like Crosby in order to be effective. I know he has good analytics but that doesn’t tell the whole story. For example, Mitch Marner has terrible analytics but is still considered an elite player by most. Kahun is a better defensive player than him plus has 8 more points in 5 fewer games. I agree on Rodrigues, he’s a solid depth player.
