I don't understand some of these trades. Cousins should have fetched better.

He's a 4th liner, it's not a bad haul for a guy who was signed from free agency over the summer

Claude trusted him and he was RFA next year. This trade wasnt necessary... The return is fair though

The Habs will not be hurting because they got rid of him. They just free up a little bit of cap and get a 4th rounder.

The problem with this trade isn' the return, its the necessity. Habs have some injuries and open contract spots, they could have just kept Cousins as a warm body in the NHL this year to let their AHL guys develop properly, an traded Cousins at the draft for a similar return.
