I think they'd like to go that route too, but there's really nothing in terms of UFA talent for top-six forwards. Granlund and Namestnikov are really just about all I can see Edmonton affording unless Hall is intending on taking the nicest hometown discount of all time. Hoffman and Dadonov are too old, and I figure that Toffoli is going to cost too much (neighbourhood of $6M if he thrives in Vancouver).

I went with Fast in my 2020-21 AGM (https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/1648724) but if I put Kassian in that role instead, I have about $8M - give or take - to facilitate something else. Buying Neal out is always an option too, but keeping him around explicitly for Seattle expansion could be useful. The assets necessary for a trade don't exactly exist - I think the Oilers would be wise to not give up on every draft pick they currently have - but if push came to shove, there are players all over this league that need to be moved from cap-strapped teams that could be had at a bargain.
