Told you Gustafsson wasnt even worth a 2nd rd pick

Created by: GMs

Description
You wanted a 1st or 2nd rd pick + another pick but Gustafsson isn't good in the neutral and defensive zone. I'm a MTL fan and after watching 3 Hawks games in a row, I wouldn't trade Brett Kulak for Gustafsson. Hawks should have dealt him last year TDL

Realistically he should have gone for a 2nd minimum. There were just so many defensemen and CHI made the deal too late. Teams kept choosing other players over him.

MTL is the last fanbase I would let tell me a player's value too... you guys think Lehkonen is worth a king's ransom. LOL

To be fair, you don’t know what was offered even a week ago. Last deadline or the draft was the time to trade Gus when his value was at its peak. Definitely a shame but he could really help out Calgary or whoever he signs with in the offseason. He can easily play top 6 minutes and quarterback a powerplay.

Lehkonen is a Blake Coleman younger, just look at what NJ got for him at 28

You completely derailed your argument by saying "I'm a Montreal fan" that carries zero weight around here.

Scandella, Dillon, and A.Greene got a second+. Gus at 1.2 mil or 50% retained should be 1 2nd. Bowman waited too long and stumbled over himself thinking he was in control. Should have sold when all the dmen were going.

Lol. Hawks fans thought Lehner was worth a 1st plus a great prospect.. even with the majority of his salary retained he didn't get close to it. Can't tell Hawks fans that though LOL

Wasn't the fans. Bean and a 1st was reported as a rumor outside of CAR.
That price was obviously steep... I think CAR dropped out and the Hawks paniced. There was no goalie market, can't blame them for moving him for whatever they could get.

As for Gus, Even THG said in his analysis of the TDL that a 2nd was expected. The market disappeared as CHI was late to the party.

Lol, what? Coleman is going to get over 200 shots and 200 hits this year plus over 20 goals. He can also play centre and has taken a lot of faceoffs. Lehkonen started playing a checking role last year so he's checking more but no where near Colemans rate. He also hasn't had more than 12 goals in the last 3 seasons. I'm going out on a limb and saying no one would trade the Coleman deal for Lehkonen. Hell, Coleman shouldn't have got the Coleman trade.

No but Lehkonen is definitely worth more than Goodrow so he's worth a 1st + something

I think going by what Tampa traded for those players isn't the best value indicator for what Lehkonen is worth. He's only 'worth' that if someone is willing to pay it

Sure, everyone would like an NHL calibur 3rd line winger, but that's not the debate though. The debate is, if Coleman got his package, Lehkonen should get at least that if not more. And I'm saying I believe Tampa was in a special circumstance to overpay, and 2 smart GMs got them to do so. Comparing what they got for him probably isn't the best indication

Brisebois is so a bad GM, signed Gourde for too much, after gave too much to Coburn and trade 3 1st rounders ( Foote was drafted in the 1st rd ) for Coleman and Goodrow ... and signed Bogosian 1.3M ... nice record ...

I wouldn't say so bad but agreed, I haven't liked what he's been doing. They were pretty set up for now and the next 10 years and now its only short term. I get winning a cup is everything, but youre telling me you couldn't get a hard checking forward for a 3rd or 2nd? Weird
