Toronto Maple Leafs 2020-2021

Initial Creation Date: Feb. 24, 2020

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Trade: I think this should be enough value for Brodin as he only has 1 year remaining on his contract. It'd obviously be best to lock him down long term after he signs. I know Minnesota are currently looking for centres however, Zucceralo is getting old and they are looking thin on the left side. Kapanen would probaby move right into the top 6 (would prefer trading johnson), while dermott can slide into the top 4 on the left side or be solid option on the third line. Bracco could also have a good career if he gets an opportunity. *The leafs should be looking for something like this in a trade it doesn't have to be this one. I definitely think these are the players that need to move out.
Priorties through the year would be somehow locking down Hyman, Brodin and Anderson. No clue how they get all 3 done without moving someone out. This could potentially be a pay raise of $9M across all 3 players (Anderson $8M, Hyman $5M, Brodin $7M). Let's say the salary cap moves to $85M, they downgrade on Holl saving $1M, maybe Robertson is ready and they can move out Johnson saving $2M. This only adds up to $6M and it being best case scenreios, going to be hard to keep everyone together. Really need to focus on continuing to develop bottom 6 forwards while capitalizing on their cheap contract and solid signings from other leagues (Mikheyev)

For the trade? I think if they tossed Johnson it'd be more fair. You could even toss a draft pick coming back from Anaheim to even it out. If they signed him immediately I think it'd be fair

Getting Kapanen only works if Dumba is traded for a center. Thin on the left? Parise is on the left for now, Fiala or Kaprizov will play left, Mayhew can play left, Greenway can play left, can start literally any left-handed prospect on the left. The right side is the weaker side and Zuccarello is likely gonna be a third liner either way. Kapanen makes sense if they get a C somewhere else.

Fiala plays right wing for now and is the best player yes, but if Parise isn't moved there is no room in the top 6 for anyone on the left if Kaprizov is on that side. The right side will have an opening on the second line.

I got you, so do you think the trade would be fair? Especially when you think they'd be trying to move out Parise and Zuccarello.

The trade is fair if the Wild get a C somewhere else for Dumba
