Thompson, Tage [RFA Rights] -> Might still turn out to do something? Don't know how interested the Flames would be in.
Ristolainen, Rasmus -> Not a bad idea if the Flames re-sign Forbort. I don't see him being a good pairing with Hanifin or Gio though
Asplund, Rasmus -> Might turn into a decent centre. What can he do that Dillon Dube can't though
2021 1st round pick (BUF) -> Bet they'd rather the 2020 pick

A for effort, just don't know how much this appeases the flames. Decent prospects but for a win now team to trade their #1C is that what they want?

Not a horrible idea, however the Flames are famously not a fan of Risto. Their own analytics department stopped them from trading for Risto, so I'd doubt they'd do it now.

Fair points
But word is that failing to win a round or 2 this year & the Flames could blow it up

Would be interesting to see what they do with Monahan & Johnny G

That was a few years ago though...
maybe things have changed?
If not, swap Risto with Montour

Would probably have to be more like Mittelstadt & Risto/Montour, and maybe another asset?

I could see Montour being an interesting piece especially if they let Hamonic walk.

I mean last year against Colorado there was a clear lack of hunger. They had two games where they let 50+ shots go by. That can't be all Johnny and Monny. That being said Mike Smith stood on his head and it was all for naught since Johnny and Monny were held to 1pt each in 5 games. Hardly playing like top players. It was actually Bennett who had 5pts in 5games funny enough.

If after two rounds those two are looking at 8-10pts each, I doubt they'll be traded.

Idk if CGY even makes the playoffs though,
let alone win a round...

I’m not a Flames fan, so i don’t watch them a ton.
BUT
I’d still be building around Monahan & Gaudreau if i were them
It’s weird to me that their names are rumored as guys to be moved
CGY would be nuts to do it
Hopefully to our benefit though! 😁

An Eichel/Monahan 1-2 punch at centre would be massive for the Sabres. Especially with Reinhart and Dahlin another year older.

And with young Cozens as the 3C
It’s probably just a dream though
CGY would be nuts to move him
