We were going off what Panarin got. Still a couple years removed from the MVP season and it's an open market. He's going to get a boatload.

Question is could he take less to play here? He would be on a line with Barzal and Eberle (his best friend). Brand new building a year away, HOF coach and GM. If the money isn't *that* important I could see it shaved down a bit. This was meant to be a conservative guess.

I like your basic concept here and the Leddy trade (to Winnipeg or Montreal, who have a raft of draft picks). Have you given any thought to combining the Ladd and Komarov unburdens?

My only issue is giving him $10M AAV for 7 years when he's close to entering his 30's. Once the aging process catches up and he starts declining, that contract is gonna hurt.

The fact that Lou traded a 1st and 2 2nds this deadline is a signal he wants to win. Realizes this team is built for today. Quite frankly he's almost 80 and this is his last shot. Ownership will listen to anything he says. And honestly, this above team could win a cup IMO. So it's worth that risk of the back end sucking.

Figured it would be tough already attaching Ladd. The Leo trade shouldn't cost *that* much relative to other dumps. It's only 2 years. He is healthy and can play bottom 6 minutes. Thought a 3rd and JHS, who will have no chance here, is enough for a rebuilding team like LAK

Doesn't Ladd go straight to the LTIR, offsetting Komarov? (Like Kesler.) Or is he actually capable of playing?

That's assuming Ladd can actually go on LTIR. He wants to play in the NHL again, that's why he was willing to waive to Minnesota. I don't think it's actually realistic he finds himself on LTIR any time soon. So gotta find a way to move him if you plan to free up that space.

Oh. My mistake. I thought he was like Marian Hossa, which is why I suggested he could be combined with Komarov. Too bad, and too bad that the trade (whatever it was) fell through.
