Shark fans Goodrow trade value and Thornton notrade

Description
Please anyone who watched most Shark games in last few years, since Goodrow plays. Have you paid attention to him?
What value he has? Is he good on the PK? Is he good defensively? Can he make plays?

All tampa fans are in shock mode after this trade, as we don't understand what value he brings, except the 0 $ caphit for 2020/2021 season?

HELP US understand why he is worth a 1st rounder? I know it's a late one, so a ~ Nr 26th pick, but this is a deep draft so essentially like a Nr. 15th draft pick = solid value = almost guaranteed NHL player with upside...

Just tell us anything, anything about what Goodrow does well, that BriseBois felt he needed to give up this much compared to players like Ennis,Grant,Namestnikov or any other froward traded in last 1 week...
Is he a leader in the locker room or on ICE?
Does he hits hard?
Does he plays physical?
Can he win faceoffs as a true 3rd/4th line center?
Can he shutdown opponents top lines?

Anything please... What value he brings? Does he not take any penalties? We have penalty problems... We take 2 more penatlies, than other teams for no reason. So at least is he disciplined on the ice?

Why our GM did this trade? Noone understands this...
Why couldn't we acquire Thornton + Goodrow in a package then?
This trade is just insane from tampa POV...

PS.:Good luck for the 1st round pick Sharks fans...

I'm no avid Sharks watcher but my brother is a big Sharks fan. He is a very solid PK'er and heavy hitter

Pretty shocked to see BriseBois essentially give up 3 1st round picks (Van, TB, Foote) for two bangers. Coleman is a good player, but still. Just seems like two big overpays for guys that should have been available for cheaper.

You set the market with Coleman. Goodrow is half his price and probably a little more than half the player, so got half the return

While I don't think this was a good trade from Tampa's point of view, he will definitely help with the pk. His face off percentage is just below 50%, but he's been playing on our top lines so that will likely improve. I don't think he's a leader in the locker room, but he does play physical and I don't have stats to back this up but I feel like he gets in about the same amount of fights as Kane.

He's versatile and can play any forward roll. Solid checker/PK. That pick is going to be a late one. I wouldn't get too bent out of shape. Plus he's signed for cheap next year and you guys need low cap hits.

Can he help in clutch situations? Like Game 7 vs Washington Capitals or Pittsburgh Penguins or even St. Louis Blues ( if blues make it to the finals again)
Our biggest problem: We just have nothing in the tank late playoffs rounds(conf finals/finals vs top teams. We go out in game 6-7 and we score 0 goals. = we lose... Can he help us with energizing the team to overcome adversity?
Last year we were hopeless vs Columbus so in that case noone could've helped. We had 0% to win... They destroyed us... But this team is much different it won't happen again...
We need help in those Game 6 + 7's... Like he needs to help us Pastrnak to not score on the pp... 1 Pastrnak goal in pp = we can prepare for new season...
Same with Ovie or Crosby/Malkin. Possible Tarasenko/Perron etc... Those star forwards always gives us trouble.
Like let's say Nashville Predators get's hot in playoffs = they make it to the finals... We need to limit Forsberg+ Duchene to bad scoring chances, otherwise we will be hopeless. I don't want another finals loss like vs Chicago couple of years. I want them to just "DO IT"! And bring the cup home...

So is he an energizer player like Coleman? And does he have a will to win at all costs?

Thanks for the answers, they are helping a lot to digest this...

Plays with a big heart and emotion; but keeps himself in check (doesn’t take bad penalties but knows when to fight or do something to up the team.)

Goodrow is no Barkov. But he plays great in both ends but not spectacular. He’s stable and consistent and plays with energy. As for game 7 and big moments

He has played very well ever since this.
He isn’t going to score 20 goals or have 800 takeaways like mark stone. But he will kill a penalty like his life is on the line. He seems like a guy everyone loves in the room because he isn’t flashy; similar to Demelo and Paul Maurices “coaches porn” comment. He goes out there and puts it on the line
