100% agree. They need to show for the rest of the season who wants to be on the team moving forward. If the same BS keeps happening big moves could be made. But you don't reward a group who is playing the way they have. Now, I will admit, it's also tough to make big deals when so many pieces are injured, but that's an excuse and doesn't make up for lack of execution at both ends of the ice.

I agree. But he's nuts not to move Barrie and salvage the disaster trade to get him. The team is doing NOTHING this spring, so keeping him is a wasted asset. Should have recouped the many they have already blown

Dubas has catered to them all year. He put up with marner and his ****. He fired the coach they didnt like. He kept their friends together when he could have traded them to make the team better. He traded for muzzin. He got a goalie and some grit. Hes done everything he could and they have been **** this season. He got torn a new one all summer because he was disrespecting mitch. The way theve played their last 4 games is embarrassing. Dubas even got them JT. They have all the tools to put it together but they dont seem to care

I always laughed when people said this but now i think I agree. I would move Marner for the best offer. Need to try and salvage effort from this core

It's time for the Leafs to put on the big boy pants and play like big boys. The course of action this summer will be established over the rest of the regular season and into the (hopefully) playoffs. They need to outplay opponents on a consistent basis. It's effort, it's execution and it's consistency. They need time to learn these things, but I think everyone's patience is finished with giving them the time to "find themselves."

That time has long passed many times. They don't care enough and have proved it many times. That's the issue with paying kids before success like Dubas has. You gamble on their actual drive to win vs drive to be rich.
I'd be lying myself if I said 50+ million dollars wouldn't change my approach either

Unless they were making their team better I wouldnt. The stars got paid and they seem to be content. Some competition would be so much better. A healthy scratch here and there and taking marner off pp1 for a bit would be so much better. Give bracco a game or 2 on pp1 to kick marner in the pants. A healthy rielly would help but dermott could use a game off

We are talking about a core full of guys under the age of 24. There is mental maturity still to happen, whether you are being paid well or not. To say the time to prove to themselves has long passed many times is an emotional statement. These guys are young. Of course they need to improve, but to say they never will because they got paid is wrong. Nobody gets into the NHL just to make money, if that were their only goal they would never have made it.

What would you have liked Dubas to do instead? Not pay them? Let them leave as RFA's? Kidnap their family to make them sign lesser deals? He paid mostly market value for star players.

We could step back and attempt to see a silver lining..... that this group just maybe learning talent and talent alone DOES NOT get you in the playoffs. I would like to think this lesson should have hit home 20 games ago, but maybe missing could be the best thing to happen to the group.

We can't use injuries as an excuse, I agree. But this is also the first time this group has faced any real adversity as well. Tampa was bounced in round 1 last year by a team that had no business being in the series. How has Tampa responded?

I am not saying the team doesn't need work. The RD as it sits for next season is beyond attrocious. But I am not sure I would be blowing up the programme either.

For what a lottery pick or 2, he would have gotten a late 1st and mid round pick at best, to be honest he did just fine in that trade considering how tied his hands were with Kadri's M NTC.

Play hardball. Just like TB with Point. I only hate the Marner deal honestly

But Kadri didn't have to go. If he was leaving it was to upgrade on the dcore. Not get another offensive dman. 99% of the time i say it's easy to look back now but most of us said this last year. We never needed Barrie

Don't kid yourself, after suspended back to back playoffs yes he had to go and he was also not being used in the top 6 roll he was suited for, had he not had a no move clause he would of pulled in a Dumba or Manson, but he had the right to hand in a no trade list and the fact he didn't want to leave I'm quite confident both Minnesota and Anaheim would have been on that list

Already been reported by reputable people he's going to sign for the same again and is happy about it. CJ I think is the guy who said in last month

He didn't have to go though. That's just fans drama they stir up. He was a huge part of the team. Him on this team is better than Barrie for a year and Kerfoot long term so unless it was an upgrade I'll never agree it had to happen
