I was viewing it as a way to get a younger player on a shorter term for Minnesota. The Wild can also flip JVR somewhere else as he has no trade protections and would be a desirable asset for teams.

Trading a $7.5m 60 point forward for a $9.5m 20-30 point forward. Only in CapFriendly land does that make sense.

Not for me. Clearly prefer the JvR contract of the two.

The Wild will never retain this much if they have to take back a cap dump in return. It’ll be 1 for 1. They’re not paying money to get a guy off their team that still contributes.

20-30 point forward?

Honestly, JVR would put up more points and still not really help if he got more ice time on a bad team like Minnesota. His contract expires 2 years before Parise's does.

Parise will LTIR Retire in 2 years and "play" for Arizona for the last 3 years of his contract wherever he ends up as his cap hit will far exceed his actual salary for the last 3 seasons.

WTF is this? So you want a 35 year old, less productive player...

So if the Wild are lucky, JVR would put up Parise points and the Wild get the privilege of retaining salary on Parise for that? You made my point for me that Parise isn't likely playing out his deal.

Toss in Frost and maybe Guerin bites. The above doesn't give Guerin any reason to do it. You made my case for me.

Actually I gave you case that you didn't even have. 20-30 point forward? I'm still looking for that one.

Actually more productive now. and for 2 more years? yes. then he gets shipped off to the Arizona retirement home on LTIR when his salary plummets to $2 million and then $1 million in each of the last 2 years.

Yeah, ignore me on that. Just double checked and looked at the wrong column. haha

I still wouldn't make that trade. The money alone is reason not to.

Less productive...2.4 p/60 for JVR, 2.1 for Parise. Also, 41% of Parise's points are PP compared to 21% for JVR
