Where would Hall fit on the team would be my question . . . he had zero chemistry with McDavid. I guess 2LW with Draisaitl? Maybe then Nuge could be 3C? Seems like a waste though.

If he was signed it would be with Draisaitl, he doesn't stylistically fit with McDavid as you said. There's probably 0% chance as Yamamoto and Bouchard will need new deals.

It is quite possible that Athanasiou will also struggle to compliment McDavid for the very same reasons Hall didn't work out as well as anticipated. In order to maximize the opportunity, whoever plays with McDavid needs to have outstanding speed, be able to make the correct decision without delay, and be willing to simplify the way they play. McDavid's wings need to focus on getting him the puck ASAP, and then getting into into a scoring position as quickly as physically possible. Like Hall, Athanasiou tends to like carrying the puck; he might be very good at it, but he needs to defer to the much greater talent playing beside him.

BTW, the Oilers are not going to win the draft lottery.
