Losing Petro

Description
Going to run 2 scenarios, losing Petro and keeping. I think Petro probably wants to go to Toronto and Toronto wants (needs) him to. In order for Petro to fit in Toronto, they need to shed salary, alot. So I think this could be a sign and trade. I think in a normal world, we could get more for Petro, but I think Toronto only makes this deal to free up money in order to sign him and to get the 8th year. Also, we still have some salary cap to sign a backup in case we need to. It's make or break for Husso. His numbers aren't bad for a bad AHL team this year, but this may be his last chance to be on our team. Yeah, I know it's unlikely, but it's all in good fun.

Wouldn't be giving up that much if he wanted to sign in Toronto. We would just flip Marner or Nylander for picks and then sign him.

Deadline is passed, we have no leverage to get anything more than a mid-round pick for Pietrangelo's rights. TOR could shed salary somewhere else and sign Petro.

I agree we have no leverage. Again, not a likely scenario, but if Toronto needs to dump salary, why not with us smile

Im generalizing and most Leafs fans think he will go there just like they did with Drew Doughty

In St. Louis, a lot of us think he wants to go there because he's from there and used to play with Tavares in his youth. It seems almost like a situation like Tavares. Could be wrong, but I wouldnt be surprised. I think the Blues making the trade for Faulk and then signing him to that insane deal is because Petro told them he was leaving. It's the only thing that trade makes sense.

I think the Maple Leafs re-signing Muzzin takes them out of the running for Pietrangelo. They would need to move a significant contract to make the cap work.

Then again, given the meltdown that's happened in leafs nation this week, maybe they are willing to.
