Leafs need players not non-lottery picks imo.

The "players" you refer to are a much deeper D group...but team salary structure prevents having this group now
This team has demonstrated the ability to win games when core pieces are out of the lineup.
...so take one out and improve the entire roster - note the amount of cap space available to trade or sign another player
I avoided any crazy Pietrangelo fantasy signing, we'll see reality after July 1st

My guy the cap space from trading Marner out is $10,893,000. That's the cap you work with to bring in the missing defensive pieces.

well Dan,
there are three quality defensive additions above that make the Leafs much better and much deeper
Leafs major issue on D is lack of quality depth and if I am not mistaken, Travis Dermott is now stepping in for Rielly and Muzzin after last night's game in Tampa
....for 2- 4 weeks, and Justin Holl is in over his head as well

If the Leafs make the playoffs with Muzzin and Rielly both out until the end of March, Travis Dermott should be nominated for The Order of Canada
