Offseason improvements trades with Ott Tor Edm and Det

Description
Ottawa needs to get to the cap floor and has a huge void at center. Wennberg has term on his contract with a respectable price tag. It would be a low risk move as Ottawa has picks at it's disposal and Wennberg can either be a piece of the core of the rebuild or be a place holder for a team transitioning through s rebuild.

Jackets get some draft picks they really need to restock the pipeline.

I know most Leafs fans will say this is too much to give up but Savard fits a real need of Toronto. He is a RHD that eats minutes, blocks shots, and above all else is not a defensive liability. He can contribute offensively but his real value is his shot suppression. But because of the scarcity of these type of players and the lack of draft picks the Leafs are willing to trade, they elect to trade prospects instead.

Jackets get valuable assets back that will serve for the present and the future. Miro Aaltonen gives the Jackets a chance and gets a spot on the third line. This is the wild card of the trade. His ability to play center and wing will make him very useful in Torts line blender. Kerfoot gives the Jackets a 2nd line center who will get to play meaningful minutes here and give the Jackets scoring depth in a position they need the most.

Edmonton will load up for one more chance while they have RNH. After next season he will be an UFA and very unlikely to return because of the cap. Anderson can be McDavid's right winger giving him a real power forward with more skill than what Kassian does now. They also will get to dump Russell's contract and get Harrington who is signed to a decent contract (which is a two year contract) and is far more useful than Russell.

The Jackets get Caleb Jones and 1st and take the cap dump of Russell. The Jackets have cap room and can easily absorb his contract. He also could be very useful as a depth defenseman on a team that as we know this year needs depth.

Detroit gets a young goalie to anchor their rebuild. Korpisalo is well developed goaltender and Detroit is still trying to find someone to fill that void.

The Jackets simply load up on picks for the future. Jarmo making up for using picks last season to go all in.

You gotta give to get. The window for Toronto is now. Robertson is a very good prospect, which is why the Jackets would want him, but with Hyman and Johansson he doesn't crack the top 6 yet and it might be a couple years before he is ready anyway.

I don't think you'll get that much for Josh Anderson.

Sens don't have a huge Void at Centre at all? Sens have two NHL Vets In Tierney and Anisimov, a C/RW In White, two NHL ready C prospects with Norris and Brown and they're probably drafting a C in the top 7.also you're not getting a 2nd for Wenneberg. He's a 30 point guy.

Just as expected, the Canadian hockey fans have problems with every trade that isn't lopsided in their favor. So predictable.

You do know Anderson has been hurt and played like crap this year. Why should we give a first and jones for him even if we are giving kriss russell ? His actual salary is 2.5 mill next year he was front loaded. We can get rid of him for much cheaper tbh

Yup, this is lopsided in CBJ's favor. Harrington is worth less than both Russell and Jones, he's a 3rd pairing defenseman on a good day. Jones is playing 2nd pairing right now with Larsson and doing fine, while Russell is a good 3rd pairing guy and a key player on Edmonton's #2 PK in the league. Lots of people think he's useless, but actual NHL coaches don't: he plays over 17 minutes per night on average, well ahead of Harrington's 13:55.

And as you mentioned, his salary is low next year: $1M signing bonus July 1st then just $1.5M salary through the season. CBJ would actually be saving money if they traded Harrington for Russell next summer.

Wennberg worth a 5th or 6th right now, his contract is terrible.
